Wednesday, April 4th, marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination in Memphis, TN. The Kegley Institute of Ethics is collaborating with several campus partners (including the Office of the Provost, Office of the President, the CSUB Black Faculty and Staff Association, the Walter W. Stiern Library, the Department of Sociology, and the Public History Institute) to remember and honor the legacy of Dr. King. April 4th events are free and open to the public and include (please see the event flyer for details and campus and parking locations): Faculty panel on the legacy of Dr. King and Civil Rights Movement (9:00 - 11:30 a.m.) Screening and discussion of Citizen King (2:00 - 4:00 p.m.) Community reading of Dr. King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" (4:30 - 5:45 p.m.) Evening addresses on the legacy of Dr. King, featuring Dr. Horace Mitchell and Dr. Thomas Wallace, followed by a candlelight vigil (6:00 - 8:00 p.m.)
