KIE Accepting Applications for 2024-25 Student Fellows (Due May 20)
The Kegley Institute of Ethics is pleased to offer two different types of student fellowships for the 2024-25 academic year: a KIE Valley Strong Student Fellowship and an Intercollegiate Civil Disagreement Partnership (ICDP) Student Fellowship. The deadline to apply is May 20.
Both types of fellowship come with a stipend ($1500 for the KIE Valley Strong fellowship and $1000 for the ICDP one), and the ICDP fellowship includes a week-long retreat at DePauw University in August with students from several other universities (all expenses paid). Please see below for more information about the fellowships.
KIE Valley Strong Student Fellowship
Each year KIE selects three KIE Valley Strong Student Fellows and helps them develop and implement ethics-related programs for the CSUB campus and/or community. Each student fellow is mentored by a member of our directors team and receives $1500 in support.
KIE is particularly interested in supporting student fellowship projects that engage with CSUB student populations and that have clearly defined ethical relevance. Project ideas include (but are not limited to):
· Ethics-focused communications/social media outreach
· Ethics or social justice-themed podcasts or videos
· Campus and/or community service projects
· Peer mentoring programs
· Peer education programs relating to sustainability, equity, and/or inclusion
· Organizing engaging speaker events, conferences, workshops, and/or leadership development projects for CSUB students
Additional program, eligibility, and application details can be found on the KIE website.
Applications are due on May 20, 2024. Students may be either graduate or undergraduate students. Successful applicants will be selected as KIE Valley Strong Student Fellows for the 2024-25 academic year.
Intercollegiate Civil Disagreement Partnership Student Fellowship
The Kegley Institute of Ethics is now in our fifth year of partnership with ethics and humanities institutes at Harvard, Stanford, St. Philips, and Santa Fe College for the Intercollegiate Civil Disagreement Partnership (ICDP), an undergraduate student fellowship and training program to develop skills to engage in and lead conversations about difficult, important topics across political differences at their respective universities and beyond.
We will select six to eight 2024-25 ICDP Student Fellows from CSUB to participate in the program that begins with a week-long summer retreat and training at DePauw University in Indiana (from August 12 to 16). All expenses for the summer retreat will be paid, and students will receive a $1000 stipend for their participation in the year-long program.
For more information and to apply, please go to this ICDP website. The link is also included in the attached flyer. Applications are due by May 20, 2024 (11:59 p.m. Eastern). Students must be undergraduates to apply.
